SHOOTING HOURS ARE NOT UNIFORM — Iowa closes gun/bow hunting at sunset, but gives resident archery-only licenses until half an hour after sunset in the FALL only; in spring, archery-only closes at sunset like everything else. The times shown above are computed to sunset, the more restrictive case, so a fall archery-only hunter has half an hour more than the figure suggests. Nonresidents face three separate limits: no fall permits at all, one spring permit for seasons 1–4 only (never the youth season), and a spring application window that runs January 1 to the last Sunday in January. Nonresident licenses are valid only in the zone and season printed on them. Residents may hold up to two turkey permits across fall and spring combined. Re-verified 2026-08-17: all dates confirmed exact against the current Hunting Seasons booklet.
