Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure
Where money could influence what you read, you should be told without having to look for it. This page says exactly where this site stands.
01 — Current status
This site earns money from some links — Amazon Associates gear links — but carries no advertising. The sections below explain how those links are marked and what it means for you.
02 — What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is an ordinary link that tells the shop who sent you. If you buy something after following one, the shop pays the referrer a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not out of your pocket.
03 — How we mark them
When affiliate links appear on this site, they will be disclosed on the page that carries them, close to the link and before it — not only here. That is what the U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires under its Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255), and it is also simply the honest way round: a disclosure you have to go looking for is not a disclosure.
Concretely:
- a short, plain-language note near the links, in normal text — not hidden in a footer or behind an asterisk;
- the affiliate relationship named, so you know who pays whom;
- rel="sponsored" on the link itself, as search engines expect.
Amazon Associates
This site is a member of the Amazon Associates Program. The following statement applies and appears wherever such links are used: “As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.” Links only ever point at a product category (a search), never at a single named item — we run no product tests of our own, so we do not claim one product is “the best.”
04 — What money does not touch
This is the part that matters on a regulatory reference. No commission, advertiser or partner influences a season date, a bag limit, a fee or a shooting hour. Those come from state wildlife agencies, are verified against the agency's own documents, and carry the date they were checked. There is nothing to sell there and nobody to please.
Nor do we accept payment for a favourable mention, and we do not let an advertiser review content before publication. Where we ever recommend equipment, we will say plainly what the recommendation is based on.
One category is excluded outright: we run no firearms or ammunition affiliate programmes.
05 — Display advertising
No advertising runs on this site today. When display advertising is introduced, it will be labelled as advertising, kept out of the season tables themselves, and named in our privacy policy before it goes live. Visitors from the EEA and the UK will be asked for consent through a proper consent tool before any advertising cookie is set. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.
06 — Questions
If anything on this site looks like a paid placement that is not marked as one, that is a mistake and we want to hear about it: info@hunteralmanac.com.
