What time can you start shooting deer in Oklahoma?

On opening day (October 1, 2026) legal light runs 06:55 to 19:43. The rule is: Half an hour before official sunrise to half an hour after official sunset (per ODWC). Sunrise and sunset shift daily, so work the offset against your local Oklahoma sun times for any other date.

Can I hunt deer on my own land in Oklahoma without a license?

Oklahoma resident landowners or agricultural tenants are exempt on land they own or lease — including the state waterfowl license and HIP for birds taken there — but big-game licenses (deer, elk, antelope, bear, turkey) are separate and not waived. A nonresident who owns Oklahoma land doesn't qualify.

Publisher's note. Dates and limits from the ODWC deer season page. Oklahoma runs one statewide date table for every method — the ten deer zones only change the antlerless bag limit, not the dates, which is unusual among the multi-zone states this project has built so far (compare Georgia or Alabama, where zones also shift dates). The Holiday Antlerless Deer Gun Season is antlerless-only and does not count toward the six-deer combined season limit that every other method feeds into. RE-VERIFIED 2026-09-01, fetched directly: the ODWC deer regulations page answers a plain fetch with a browser user agent, no block and no proxy needed. Every row matched: Archery 'Oct 1, 2026 - Jan 15, 2027'; Youth Deer Gun 'Oct 16, 2026 - Oct 18, 2026'; Muzzleloader 'Oct 24, 2026 - Nov 1, 2026'. Bag structure confirmed verbatim - 'Combined Season Limit: Six: no more than two may be antlered', youth gun 'Two: no more than one may be antlered ... not included as part of the hunter's regular deer gun season limit of four deer'. Two details from the page that this file does not model: the muzzleloader antlerless allowance is set per zone (Zone 1 one antlerless; Zones 2, 7 and 8 four; Zones 3-6 and 9 two; Zone 10 one), and DMAP is a separate private-land programme needing at least 1,000 acres. One timing rule worth knowing and now recorded: 'Deer taken during Jan. 1-15, 2027, count toward the 2026 combined season limit' - the January archery tail does not reset the count.
