Unlike most multi-zone states, West Virginia's core deer seasons (archery/crossbow, buck firearms, muzzleloader) run on the SAME statewide dates for every county — the county-by-county tables on pages 13-15 of the source vary the antlerless bag limit (0 to 3 deer) and permit requirements by county group, not the dates themselves. Antlerless firearms season is closed in some counties and limited to a 1-deer permit lottery in others; where it is open, all counties share the same four date ranges. Four counties (Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Wyoming) and the southern portion of Wayne County are the exception: they have no buck firearms season at all — crossbow is not permitted there either (long/recurve bow only), and Mountaineer Heritage is restricted to long/recurve bows in those four counties specifically (elsewhere it also allows primitive muzzleloaders). The Youth/Class Q/Class XS Special Split Season is not a general season — it runs on private land statewide plus public land only in counties that have a firearms deer season.
