Publisher's note. Dates from DEC's own '2026 White-Tailed Deer Hunting Season Dates' table. New York's deer seasons are genuinely four-way split — Northern Zone, Southern Zone, and two special downstate carve-outs (Westchester County / WMU 3S and Suffolk County / WMU 1C) that each run their own much longer bow-only seasons instead of the upstate weapon rotation. Bag limits changed substantially for 2026: every hunting license now includes a first Antlered Deer Tag valid in any season except the September Early Antlerless season; reporting an antlerless harvest unlocks a second Antlered Deer Tag. Hunters may apply for up to 4 Deer Management Permits (DMPs) — 2 in limited-DMP WMUs and 2 in unlimited/bonus-DMP WMUs — and antlerless harvest is uncapped in 23 named WMUs holding unlimited DMPs (1C, 3M, 3P, 3R, 3S, 4J, 6P, 7F, 7H, 7J, 7R, 8A, 8C, 8F, 8G, 8H, 8J, 8N, 8R, 8S, 9A, 9F, 9G) — not reproduced as a bag-limit table here since it is a WMU eligibility list, not a number; see DEC's Antlerless Deer Hunting page for the current WMU-by-WMU breakdown.
