Publisher's note. Dates from MDIFW's own '2026-27 Maine Hunting Seasons' quick-reference summary. Maine's baseline bag limit is 1 antlered deer per year on a plain hunting license — antlerless deer require a separately drawn antlerless permit, EXCEPT that for 2026 hunters in WMDs 21-25 and 29 may take one deer of either sex under the base license during firearms/muzzleloader season, or statewide during regular archery/youth hunt, without a permit. Expanded Archery only runs in designated areas (mostly suburban/limited-access zones for deer management, not a statewide season) — its dates set the overall opener and closer shown here, even though most hunters won't be in one of those areas that early or late.
