Can I hunt deer on my own land in Kentucky without a license?
Kentucky resident farmland owners — or their spouse or dependent children — may hunt (not trap) and fish that land without a license; resident tenants living there and their dependent children get the same right. Season dates, zone rules, bag limits, and telecheck reporting still apply.

The season table confirms every row: Archery Sept. 5, 2026 - Jan. 18, 2027; Youth/Senior Crossbow same window; Crossbow Sept. 19, 2026 - Jan. 18, 2027; Youth-only Gun Oct. 10-18, 2026; Muzzleloader Oct. 17-18, 2026 and Dec. 12-20, 2026; Modern Gun Nov. 14-29, 2026; Free Youth Weekend Dec. 26-27, 2026. The gap: the earlier note recorded a CWD Surveillance Zone hunt as announced but with dates TBA, and described it as two days. KDFWR now publishes it, and both details were wrong to leave standing - it is FOUR days, Sept. 25-28, 2026, and it has been added to this file as its own method row. The agency footnote is worth quoting because it constrains the hunt tightly: 'CWD Surveillance Zone counties only; CWD season is for Zone 1-3 counties within the CWD Surveillance Zone. Antlerless only. Hunters can use firearms, bows or crossbows. Zone bag limits apply. Antlered deer may not be taken during this season by any method.' Bag structure confirmed from the same page: the statewide or youth deer permit allows up to four deer, at most one of them antlered; an additional deer permit adds up to two more, still under the zone limits. Season dates are statewide; Zones 1-4 govern bag limits only, which is why this file carries one methods list and four zone bag rows.
