Webb Wildlife Center covers 5,866 acres near Garnett in Hampton County. Bottomland hardwood and managed pine along the Savannah River — the original core of what's now a 25,000+ acre contiguous public-hunting complex together with the adjoining Hamilton Ridge and Palachucola WMAs.

02 — Access rules specific to this WMA
- Requires the statewide SCDNR WMA permit in addition to a South Carolina hunting license — the same permit required on every SC WMA.
- Still gun-hunting for deer is by draw only — hunters must apply and be selected rather than hunting first-come.
- On drawn gun hunts, SCDNR staff transport hunters out to assigned stands and pick them up afterward, along with any deer harvested — an unusually full-service format for a public WMA.

Camping: Not a visitor amenity — Webb Center also serves as an SCDNR research and management headquarters. No shooting range on-site.
Origin point of South Carolina's entire WMA program: SCDNR's first WMA tract in 1941 was 5,000 acres here on the Savannah River.

Webb Wildlife Center is both the birthplace of South Carolina's WMA program (SCDNR's original 1941 tract) and still its most distinctive access model: still gun-hunts for deer are drawn, not first-come, and the agency chauffeurs hunters to and from their stands — closer to a guided hunt than typical public land. Together with Hamilton Ridge and Palachucola WMAs it forms one of the largest contiguous public deer-hunting blocks in the Lowcountry. Every hunter here still needs the same statewide WMA permit required on any other South Carolina WMA, on top of a regular hunting license.
